Cisco ASA 5510 Backup to TFTP Server using ASDM

• I used the ASA 5510 for most of these examples. The big difference between the ASA 5505 and all the other models is that it’s the only firewall that has 4 switchports. The 5510 only has L3 interfaces, it doesn’t have switchports.

• ASDM7.6.1 and 7.6.2 are available as download for the ASA 5510 on the Cisco download page, and according to the comment, it is compatible with all firmware versions from 8.0 to 9.6 (but there isn't a firmware version newer than 9.1.7 (16) for ASA 5510). Where did you read, that ASDM7.6 is not compatible with firmware 9.1 on ASA 5510?

ASDM 7.1(5) and earlier are not supported with Java 7 update 51. If you already upgraded Java, and can no longer launch ASDM in order to upgrade it to Version 7.2 or later, then you can either use the CLI to upgrade ASDM, or you can add a security exception in the Java Control Panel for each ASA you want to manage with ASDM.

(Its a small utility) and can be installed on any version of windows you are running. Installation is traditionally simple by clicking on Next button.

1- Install WINAGENTSTFTPSERVER
2- Start TFTPServer
3- Login to ASAusing ASDMtool
4- Goto File> Save running configuration to TFTP Server
5- Type TFTP Server IPAddress (where the tftp software is installed. and in Configuration File Path, Type the File name and click on SAVE CONFIGURATION.

The configuration will save in few seconds. The default path of file saved is
C:ProgramDataWinAgentsTFTP Server 4TFTPRoot
